Verify quality of your now playing data

Follow

Accuracy and quality of your NowPlaying data flow for all events into TagStation is crucial for a proper TagStation operation and directly impacts:

  • Visual experience on NextRadio, RDS, HD PAD, possibly your streaming website and station's streaming app
  • Revenue opportunities from in-app advertising campaigns
  • Promotional opportunities for stations shows and talent
  • Reporting for station listening, advertising campaigns and potential Nielsen measurement

The below verification should be complete 24 hours after initial connection to TagStation and any changes made to your metadata path to TagStation to include Automation system, Middleware (TRE, CSRDS, Slingshot, Jumpgate, Padapult) or streaming software if you are sending metadata to us from your stream.

Also, the verification should be complete quarterly.

  1. Login to http://admin.tagstation.com. If you don’t have a login account or you have a problem with the login please contact support@tagstation.com.
  2. Go to each tab and verify that all of your events are flowing into TagStation and they are populating the Songs, Spots and NTR tabs correctly:
    • At each tab set the screen to see 100 results per page
    • Review your entries within last 24 hours (look at Last played column)

In the Songs tab only song events should be seen

  1. Do you see Spots or promo events appearing in the Song tab? If Yes:
    • Engineering checks and adjust spot categories mapping in stations datacasting middleware software so spot events are only in the Spots tab and promo events are only in the Promos tab.
    • Programming should utilize the TagStation scheduler for day part static messages.
  2. Do you see all songs you think you played? If not:
    • Engineering checks if all music categories are listed in your datacasting middleware (connectivity software) mapping.
      • Please add them if needed.
    • Engineering checks if your middleware PC is working properly by looking at excessive CPU, Hard Drive or connectivity (netstat in command prompt) usage.
      • Reboot the PC
      • Set automatic reboot if issue reappears:
        • Set windows for automatic login. Google how to do it on your OS.
        • Have all middleware shortcuts in StartUp folder
        • Use windows scheduler to run "C:\Windows\system32\shutdown.exe /r" every night.

In the Spots tab only spot events should be seen

  1. Do you see any music events appearing in the Spots tab? If Yes:
    • Engineering checks and adjust music categories mapping in stations datacasting middleware software so music events are only in the Music tab and spot events are only in the Spots tab.
  2. Do you see all spots you think you played? If not:
    • Engineering checks if all spot categories are listed in your datacasting middleware (connectivity software) mapping.
      • Please add them if needed.
    • Engineering checks if your middleware PC is working properly by looking at excessive CPU, Hard Drive or connectivity (netstat in command prompt) usage.
