How to customize song data

Follow

There may be times when you need to customize the details of a song.  Any song can be customized, below are two examples of how yo might customize an unmatched song using TagStation's song customization feature.

Start by clicking on the song in question to launch the "Search" window.

When the "Search" window pops up, the search fields will be pre-populated with information from your automation system and the results (based on the info from automation) will be displayed.

Adjust the search terms if necessary, especially if any fields contain misspelled works or a "featuring" artist.  If you know that album title you may also add that to the search.

Roll over the 'magnifying glass' icon to see the available album art for the results of your search.  If you find a match that suits your needs, click on it, and your song will be matched to those details.

But let's assume that from the available results you are unable to find a match that suits your exact needs. You have two options.

Option 1: Ignore the search results and click "Customize"

Doing so launches the customize interface, enabling you to manually enter any/all song details, including an optional custom image.

After adding your custom information, click "Save."

Your song will now display in the "Customized" category and will display the custom information each time it is played.

Option 2: Match THEN customize some of the song details

This enables you to leverage the available Gracenote data while also customizing the information further, all in one step. To do this, find the match you wish to use and click the grey "C" icon.

Doing so launches the customize interface with the song data/artwork from the match you selected.

Keep the info you like, customize the rest.

In this example (highlighted in blue) we are adding the "featuring" artists.

After adding your custom information, click "Save."

Your song will now display in the "Customized" category and will display the custom information each time it is played.
